Hi! I'm Matt. When my daughter Isabel was a little girl, I wrote her a bunch of songs. Some were just to make her laugh, like songs about the Moon playing hide-and-seek, April Fools Day jokes, and super-duper fancy coffee drinks! Some were to help her during the big "growing up" times, like using the toilet for the first time and learning to read.

Many years later, in 2022, when Isabel was 18, I decided it would be fun to finally record those songs for her, with the help of some really cool computer software that allowed me to play many different instruments using only an electric piano. I also thought it would be fun to get my sons (Isabel's little brothers) Ollie (who was 4) and Andy (who was 2) and my wife Michelle to sing and talk on the record. On one song, Isabel sings her little brothers a lullaby that I used to sing to her. Our dog Poppy even makes a musical appearance!​​

Dragonfly Ring! combines many different musical styles, including classical, folk, disco, and rock. We like a lot of different types of music and we think kids do too! Some of the songs go together and tell a little story. We call the four songs at the end of Side A "The Poop Suite". You'll just have to listen to find out why! (And kids, ask your parents what "Side A" means!) We released different versions of the songs on Dragonfly Ring! as singles between 2023 and 2024. We are looking forward to sharing new versions of these songs on the upcoming album. We have added a few surprises, including new instrumental and vocal parts to increase the fun!

​​​​​​​​​​​​​We are called Matt and the Dragonflies after a little plastic dragonfly ring that Isabel loved to play with when she was about Andy's age. One of the songs is called "Dragonfly Ring", which tells that story. And of course the album Dragonfly Ring! gets its name from that song. I hope that this album is fun for kids and their parents too. I know that certain kids and parents (us) had a blast making it!
